Experience: Senior level

Hello! Are you ready to Work from Home and transform your career?

We're looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Lead Cloud Data Engineer for various roles to join the engineering team at Modus for multiple projects with different skill sets. Want to help our clients build awesome solutions to accomplish their goals and vision? Are you interested in working from home with some of the best talents on the planet? Then keep reading.

About You

You love being in charge of optimization and automation across multiple platforms and applications. You have deep experience architecting applications, innovating, and iterating on ideas, working closely with product owners to deliver practical & performant solutions to complex business problems.

You can lead a small team of software developers to deliver the product roadmap, architect solutions that meet users’ needs as well as collaborate on code reviews and debug failing tests. You work closely with product owners to generate ideas and keep feedback loops short, support the team and the product in being successful, and work with other senior engineers, product owners, project managers, and the platform leadership team to achieve goals.

You have a deep understanding of architecture (cloud & server-side components) as well as serverless models (ideally AWS Lambda + Chalice).

You have worked with teams before on large and demonstrable projects (preferably built on AWS and familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash, Ruby, or Python). You’re also familiar with data modeling & data pipelines (design, ingest & cleanse data from various sources), message queues, prototyping, unit tests, and continuous integration (ideally Github Actions). You understand Agile ways of working (ideally Kanban).

Ideally, you’ve had exposure to Wardley Maps and value chain mapping tools. You are skilled with data visualization (eg: D3.js, Chart.js, Anime.js, Tableau, etc.), particularly network graphs (directed acyclic graphs). Your experience with JavaScript (Node.js) and your collaboration with open source communities are a big plus.

You love learning. Engineering is an ever-evolving world. You enjoy playing with new tech and exploring areas that you might not have experience with yet. You are a self-driven, self-learner willing to share knowledge and participate actively in your community.

Having overlap with your team is critical when working in a global remote team. Modus requires all team members to overlap with EST morning hours daily. In addition, reliable high-speed internet is a must.

Things You Might Do

Modus is a fast-growing, and remote-first company, so you'll likely get experience on many different projects across the organization. That said, here are some things you'll probably do:

  • Give back to the community via open source and blog posts

  • Teach and be taught: Modus creates active teams that work on internal and external projects together, giving opportunities to stay relevant with the latest technologies and learning from experts worldwide

  • Interact directly with internal and external clients to represent Modus and its value

Our Benefits may vary according to the country you are located in, so please reach out to our recruiter in case you have any questions.

If you become a contractor we offer:

  • Competitive compensation

  • 100% Remote work (could vary according to the client's needs)

  • The chance to work side-by-side with thought leaders in emerging tech
