Hi, we're Shake ๐Ÿ‘‹ Our mission is to help companies grow with online reviews, whether 1st party (on their business) or 3rd party (on other businesses). We leverage big data to enable workflows that have never been seen before, with a software-as-a-service approach in Reviewshake and a data-as-a-service approach in Datashake.

We're an established business with thousands of paying customers and a team of 20+ and are searching for a full-time remote Python Engineer to help us build out our services. Youโ€™ll be an important part of our early-stage team and work on several projects, internal frameworks, and microservices. We are looking for someone who is excited about building out game-changing technologies that are used by software engineers, data scientists, quants, and data analysts all around the world.

You're a proactive, sharp, and self-motivated individual who is eager to learn and take ownership of our products. You love communicating and working with others in your team toward success, taking us from where we are now to where we want to be!

Being bootstrapped (not venture-backed) and fully remote, we donโ€™t strive for growth at all costs and are building a company that we can be proud of, and enjoy working for.

Our tech stack:
  • Python, FastAPI
  • Celery
  • RabbitMQ
  • MySQL, Elasticsearch, Redis
  • Github, CI/CD
  • Docker, Kubernetes
  • AWS/OVH

On a typical day, you will:
  • uphold our high engineering standards and bring consistency to our product development
  • create and develop new functionalities as well as maintain existing ones
  • implement web crawlers based on ongoing requirements
  • write clean and scalable code
  • write code-reviews
  • learn best practices from other team members

Requirements:
Our ideal candidate has:
  • strong knowledge of Python (2+ years)
  • experience with high-volume web scraping and building web parsers
  • experience with Redis and queues (Celery/RabbitMQ)
  • experience building REST APIs (FastAPI)
  • good knowledge of RDBMS databases
  • fluent English and excellent communication skills

Nice to have:
  • experience creating products for developers, data engineers, and/or data consumers
  • passion for writing clean code and tests
  • experience with ElasticSearch
  • experience with headless browsers
  • hands-on approach and is proactive
  • a keen eye for detail, striving for perfection

Benefits
Our team is fully remote and we communicate primarily through Slack, Linear, Notion, and a few weekly meetings via Google Meet - we believe the best work happens when given lots of uninterrupted time that's free of distractions.
